Angela Burton is painting the Mingkiri Tjukurpa. Mingkiri is the Pitjantjatjara term for the various species of small burrowing mice found in the desert where they live. A small number of these species have pouches like Kangaroos. Traditionally, the mingkiri were dug out of their burrows by the women, to be cooked and eaten.
