BIOGRAPHY
Carol Stevens is from Fregon on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands, 350km SE of ULURU. Carol's mother is Beverley Cameron. Together they paint at the Kaltjiti Arts Centre. Her paternal grandmother is the well-known artist from Tjungu Palya, the late Kun. Stevens. Carol is married to Rogie Roberts from Fregon. They have one daughter. Carol's connection to the Tjukurpa (dreaming story) Piltati is through her father's side; her grandfather's country is Nyapari. This is Piltati Tjukurpa, the creation story for Piltati. Wati wanampi kutjara munu Kunga Kutjara nyinanyi (the two snake men were sitting with the two girls). The sisters went out each day to dig for mai and kuka (bush foods and meat). The men sat inside the cave painting sacred designs on the walls or making spears of having inma. Through her mother, Beverley Cameron, she is connected to the Tjukurpa, Minyma Kutjara. Carol paints these two stories.
