Jillian Williams is a long term local of Coober Pedy who joined the Umoona Art Centre in July of 2024, and works in creating beautifully detailed pieces.
In this piece Jillian portrays the native wildflowers that bloom around the Coober Pedy landscape in Spring and Summer. She depicts how the flowers spread across the land like a blanket through her use of bright colours that weave and move together defining the dips and changes in the landscape.
The sight of these wildflowers are reminiscent of the times Jillian would take her children motorbike riding out bush, especially after fresh rains had brought the landscape to life with new growth.
